1. Who this applies to

This policy covers the DotMac Self-Care mobile app (io.dotmac.selfcare) and the self-care web portal used by DotMac internet customers and resellers to manage their service, billing, and support.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to provide the service:

Account & contact — name, email, phone, date of birth, optional gender, and service/billing address.
Service location — a map pin / GPS coordinates you choose to share (foreground only), to locate your service address for installs and fault dispatch.
Billing & payments — invoices, payments, wallet balance, saved-card references (tokens), and bank-transfer receipts you upload. We do not collect or store full card numbers.
Usage data — your internet data consumption and session/usage summaries.
Support content — tickets, messages, and files/photos you attach.
Device & app — push notification token, app/diagnostic logs, and device model/OS.

We use foreground location only — never in the background — and only after you grant permission and choose to attach a location.

3. How we use your information

Provide and maintain your internet service and account.
Process payments, top-ups, and reseller settlements.
Send service, billing, and support notifications.
Verify service-location pins and dispatch technicians.
Diagnose and fix crashes and errors.
Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Third parties we share data with

We share the minimum necessary with service providers who process data on our behalf:

Paystack, Flutterwave — payment processing (amount, email, payment method).
Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications (device token).
GlitchTip / Sentry (self-hosted) — crash & error diagnostics.
Geocoding provider — converting addresses to/from coordinates you submit.

We may also disclose data where required by law.

5. Data retention

We keep account, billing, and tax records for as long as your account is active and as required by Nigerian law after closure. Support and diagnostic data are retained only as long as needed.

6. Security

Access is authenticated and role-scoped; sensitive credentials are encrypted at rest; payment card data is tokenized by our payment providers and not stored by us.

7. Your rights

You can view and update your profile and address in the app, and request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by contacting support@dotmac.ng.

8. Children

The service is intended for DotMac account holders and is not directed at children under 18.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be notified in-app or by email, and the effective date above will change.
